Jada Kim, a senior at Stuyvesant High School, has been selected as a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, to be held on June 26-28, on the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus. The Congress of Future Medical Leaders is a highly selective national program that honors high-achieving high school students who aspire to contribute to the service of others through medicine or medical research.
Students are selected based on academic achievement, leadership potential, and commitment to the field of medicine. Kim’s nomination was signed by Dr. Mario Capecchi, winner of the Nobel Prize of Medicine and the science director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.
During the three-day Congress Jada will join students from across the country and learn from Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science recipients discussing leading medical research and the latest advancements in medical technology. She will also gain advice from top Ivy League and top medical school deans on what to expect in medical school; and exchange ideas with fellow teen medical science prodigies.
Kim has also recently been awarded the National Scholar Emerging Leaders in Medicine award. This prestigious award is presented to ten students each year. Winners are chosen based on their outstanding academic records, leadership potential, records of community service, and essays.
Kim has served as Co-President of Amplify Teens, a global ambassador for CIEE, a volunteer for UNICEF, and recently completed a medical internship at Metropolitan Hospital. She is also a National Merit Commended Student.
